CaiLianPress (Shanghai, editor: Huang Junzhi), reports that Juganu Ltd., a LED product start-up, is selling a new product in the United States which can disinfect the surface of objects and invalidate pathogens so as to provide new safety technologies for buildings that can prevent the spread of Covid-19 virus.

According to Juganu, this product has passed the clinical verification by Dr. Meital Gal-Tanamy of the medical school of Bar-Ilan University, and has been registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 48 States of the United States.

In addition, the company is cooperating with Comcast (the second largest Internet service provider in the United States), Qualcomm, and NCR, an American computer service company, to promote its lighting disinfection and inactivation technology to the US market.

Specifically, this technology uses two kinds of ultraviolet rays (UVA and UVC) to inactivate viruses and kill bacteria on object surfaces. When someone is in the room, the company's system will give off UVA for 8 hours to inactivate viruses in the room. If there is no one in the room, the system will give off UVC, which has stronger disinfection effect and greater harm to people. UVC can completely disinfect the room in less than an hour.

Eran Ben-Shmuel, CEO of Juganu, said in an interview that: "We have been exempted by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and approved by the US Environmental Protection Agency to sell the technology in 48 States." According to him, the company has pre-sold this technology in Israel and India, and is currently accepting installation orders in the United States.

Jugano is an LED product start-up headquartered in Rosh HaAyin, a town in central Israel. The company uses Qualcomm's chips to provide end-to-end services and build wireless grid broadband communication network, which can support the building of networks consisting of one lamp to tens of thousands of lamps. So far, Juganu has raised $53 million from investors including Comcast Ventures, Viola Growth (Israel), Amdocs (Israel) and OurCrowd.

According to the company, this new system has opened up new business areas in the booming technology market, with an aim of helping countries most severely hit by COVID-19 pandemic regain momentum of economic growth.
